Seven weeks of on again, off again rainfall here in Santa Barbara has brought an early crop of limes and lemons to the trees on the hillside behind our house. Maureen and I harvested "two bags full" of the former, and we left all but three of the latter on the tree, for another day's picking. The grasses have grown to knee length almost overnight and the soil is still moist enough that the gophers and ground squirrels must think they're in heaven ( I wish they were!), Their brown mounds of freshly bored earth seem to poke up everywhere. It was a gorgeous day today ... no clouds anywhere, clear blue skies as far as you could see.
